QS is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Edward Harcourt as Senior Vice President and Managing Director (QS Enrolment Solutions) from 2nd September.
Dr. Harcourt joins QS after six years as a pro-vice-chancellor at Liverpool John Moores University where he held academic leadership responsibility for all aspects of external engagement including overseas student recruitment and international affairs. A 30-year veteran of international higher education, Dr. Harcourt was previously Director of International Relations at the University of Birmingham and Head of Institutional Relations and an Assistant Registrar at the University of Warwick. He graduated from Lancaster University and began his career in New York City at Oxford University Press and the New York Academy of Sciences before completing a PhD at Vanderbilt University.
As Managing Director of QSES, Dr. Harcourt will succeed Andy Nicol and manage the continued integration of enrolment services within the QS portfolio, leading the QSES executive team based in London, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne to deliver growth through services-led partnership with universities around the world. As a Senior Vice President, Dr. Harcourt will shape the development of new products and services and lead on the development of partnership initiatives while acting as an ambassador for the broader QS portfolio.
Nunzio Quacquarelli, CEO of QS, says “His appointment as a QS Senior Vice President is the latest in a series of new external appointments to the QS Board as we position the company for significant growth. Edward’s executive experience in different parts of the UK university sector, allied to his knowledge of international education in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australasia, will bring a valued perspective to our approach to new partnership development. His experience is a good match for the global ambition we have at QS to become the lead strategic partner for universities seeking to strengthen their international engagement and recruitment activity.”
Edward has added the following comments: “I am delighted to be joining QS during its 30th anniversary year and at a time when universities around the world are continuing to invest in international partnerships and recruitment. QS has earned a respected position globally for the integrity of its rankings and strategic advisory reports as well as its solutions-oriented products and services, and I am excited at the opportunity QS has to become a stronger partner to university executive teams around the world looking to extend their reach and impact. With universities budgeting for continued growth in overseas student recruitment, I believe that innovative recruitment and retention services developed by the strong leadership team at QSES can support more universities to achieve growth through competitive advantage while enabling the next generation of international scholars to make informed choices and achieve their ambitions.”
